Iceman Activation

When plans came together for Iceman — a massive ice structure built overnight in the heart of downtown Toronto — CXC provided the on-site manpower and site leadership behind the build. Working alongside MAWG Design's creative direction, our crew led the overnight assembly at 81 Bond Street, keeping the site organized and on schedule through a 30-hour build window with zero margin for delay.

In that time, one million pounds of ice — more than 3,500 individual blocks — came together into a structure roughly 25 feet high, with a sealed bag containing the album's release date hidden at its core. Every hour mattered: the site had to stay tight enough to protect the secret until the reveal, with no slack in the schedule.

By the next morning, hundreds of fans had gathered with sledgehammers, blowtorches, and even flamethrowers, drawing officers from three police divisions and eventually the Toronto Fire Department for crowd and site safety. When a streamer broke through and uncovered the release date — May 15, 2026 — the moment spread across the internet within minutes.

Hundreds of Millions of Media Impressions

The Iceman activation became one of the most-covered brand moments of 2026. Drake's own Instagram post crossed 4 million likes within 48 hours, while the story was picked up by CBC, CTV News, Global News, Rolling Stone, HipHopDX, Euronews, Yahoo Entertainment, iHeartRadio, and outlets across six continents — turning a single overnight build into a global cultural moment.

At Construct X Create (CXC), the Iceman activation reflects what our team brings when a project needs hands and leadership on the ground, fast — the same on-site discipline behind our general contracting and commercial carpentry work across the GTA, applied here to a high-profile brand activation under national media attention.
